Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Spades Overbooked (the game, and "we") collects when you play, what we do with it, and how you can delete it. The game is available on Android, iPhone, Mac and Windows. Questions go to 12thavedigital@gmail.com.
What we collect
Your account
Your username, your password and the email address you give when you sign up. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. We use your email only to send you a password reset link when you ask for one, and to answer you when you contact us.
Your game
Your match results, stats and rank; your Spucks and other in-game balances; the items you own; your achievements and arcade scores; your friend code, friends and friend requests; and the character, deck, vehicle and house choices you make.
Chat
Messages you send in chat are delivered to the other players in that chat, with offensive words filtered out. We don't keep a chat history. The server briefly remembers each player's last few messages so that, if someone reports them, the report includes what was actually said; reports (who reported whom, why, and those messages) are kept so we can act on them. Players you block are stored with your account so the block works on every device.
Purchases
Real-money purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive what you bought, the price and whether the payment went through. We never see or store your card number. For custom character orders we also keep the answers you give us (the character's name, what it should look like, a picture link and your email) so we can make it and contact you. Photos you send us for a custom character (by link or by replying to our email) are used only to make that character, and we delete them once it is finished. Only send photos of yourself, or of someone who has given you permission.
Technical and diagnostic information
Our servers see your IP address when the game connects. The game also sends its error and diagnostic log to our server, tied to your username, so we can find and fix bugs.
How we use it
- To run your account and the game: signing you in, matchmaking, seating you at tables and saving your progress.
- To deliver what you buy.
- To keep games fair, including ranked penalties for leaving games.
- To fix bugs and answer you when you contact us.
What other players can see
Your username, character, rank and what you do at the table; your name on leaderboards; and messages you send in chat.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for advertising. It is shared only with:
- Stripe, to process payments;
- Akamai (Linode), which hosts our servers;
- Resend, which delivers password reset emails;
- Google Play and the Apple App Store, under their own policies, when you download the game or buy through them;
- anyone we're required to share it with by law.
Ads
The game doesn't show ads. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and game data are removed from the game's database. Records of real-money purchases are kept as needed for tax, accounting and fraud prevention.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the game (Settings, then Delete Account), on our account deletion page, or by emailing 12thavedigital@gmail.com from the address on your account.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing 12thavedigital@gmail.com. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law, and we'll honour them.
Children
The game isn't made for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, such as storing passwords only as hashes and limiting who can reach our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that yours never will be.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the game.
